Henderson Celebrates Safety Week | People First, Safety Always

At Henderson, safety is at the heart of everything we do. This year’s Construction Safety Week theme, “All in together: Plan. Own. Commit.” is designed to collaboratively strengthen safety across the industry. Through our “People First, Safety Always” approach, we’ve reinforced our safety culture that prioritizes safety from day one. Whether it’s on our job sites, offices, or anywhere Henderson is represented.

We believe that committing to a safe work environment doesn’t belong to one person or one department, it’s a commitment we all take ownership of every day. When we collaborate, share ideas, and look out for one another, we’re taking the time to recognize and address workplace hazards. This allows us to create a safe environment for ourselves and gives us the opportunity to provide clients with a reliable and productive partner. Here are a few ways we can continue to look out for each other:

  • Trip, slips, and fall hazards are among the most reported workplace incidents. Make sure to keep walkways clear of clutter and post warning signs on construction sites.
  • Electrical hazards can range from minor shocks to serious injuries resulting from faulty wiring, poor equipment, or overloaded circuits. Regularly inspect equipment, follow OSHA electrical safety guidelines, and address issues quickly.
  • Improper lifting techniques can result in sprains, strains, and back injuries. Use lifting aids or seek help when lifting oversized objects.
  • Poorly stored materials can lead to objects falling, damaged inventory, or even blocked emergency exits. Clearly mark storage, conduct regular audits, and avoid overstocking items.
  • Take breaks to avoid fatigue and maintain focus. Keep open communication with your team and adjust workloads to support injury prevention.

Being able to maintain an OSHA compliant work environment is a constant commitment to safety. Taking the time to review and update emergency procedures keeps us ready to respond to any situation and ensure smooth operations. This means projects stay on schedule, challenges are addressed, and clients receive the peace of mind they deserve.

At the end of the day, we want everyone to get back home safely. Practicing safe driving habits such as following speed limits, staying focused on the road, and making sure your vehicle is in good condition matters. Our commitment to safety and looking out for one another can help reduce risks and protect others on the road.

Safety beyond the workplace – Tips for everyday life

Team Henderson understands safety doesn’t stop when the workday ends. Staying alert and prepared can make a significant difference in protecting ourselves and those around us at work and in every part of our life. Here are a few ways we can prioritize safety together, at work and at home:

  • Ensure smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are installed and working on each level of your home.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity in any situation.
  • Avoid sharing personal information with strangers, online, or through text messages.
  • Lock all doors at home and lock car doors as soon as you enter your vehicle.
  • Keep emergency supplies like a flashlight, batteries, and a first aid kit close at hand.
  • Develop and practice a family fire escape plan to ensure everyone knows what to do during an emergency.
  • Take care of your physical and mental health. If you need support, reach out
    to a mental health provider.

Every step we take to minimize risks and protect one another is a reflection of the care, collaboration, and culture we built to better serve our clients. We’re looking forward to continuing our commitment to safety and finding even more ways to strengthen the relationships that make Henderson the partner you can count on.
