Bruce Watenpaugh has had an eventful career in the AEC industry, leading large-scale projects across the globe. While the opportunity to work across different countries initially drew him to the industry, it’s the people that made it meaningful—experiencing new cultures, collaborating with teams, and tackling complex challenges. With experience at both large corporations and running his own business, he wanted to be part of a company where he could make a lasting impact and knew Henderson Engineers was the right fit.
As the operations director for the business sector, he leads teams in developing strategic, practical solutions that support the firm’s success. He’s passionate about giving back and has helped establish Engineers Without Borders in Gabon, a country in West Africa, where he provided engineering solutions for local communities. He’s also served on the Board of Economic Development in Las Cruces, NM, to support workforce training initiatives. When he’s not working or volunteering, he enjoys spending time outside—camping, overlanding, or skiing. Anything with a motor also catches his attention, so much so that he and his son often race bikes, ATVs, and karts—sometimes successfully, sometimes not so much. He also appreciates the quieter days at the beach with his family.
