Henderson Announces 14 Key Leadership Appointments from Q1 2025

Henderson Companies, the parent company of Henderson Engineers and Henderson Building Solutions, proudly announces 14 notable leadership hires and promotions effective in early 2025. Spanning a variety of disciplines across both subsidiaries, the new appointments include:

Aaron Henderson, Nashville

Technology Operations Director at Henderson Engineers

Aaron brings a strategic mindset and passion for innovation to his role as technology operations director. His experience launching corporate initiatives, new divisions, and companies make him the perfect fit to find opportunities to maintain and improve Henderson’s systems. He’s also dedicated to advancing tech use across the industry through his involvement with the Associated General Contractors, Associated Builders and Contractors, Urban Land Institute, and American Institute of Architects.

 

Brett Crask, Lenexa, Kan.

Grocery Practice Director at Henderson Engineers

In his new role as grocery practice director, Brett leads the Henderson business unit that specializes in grocery store projects across the country. He brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the role having begun his career with Henderson 15 years ago and worked his way up from an entry-level designer to a respected leader.

 

Bruce Watenpaugh, Lenexa, Kan.

Business Sector Operations Director at Henderson Engineers

Bruce’s eventful career in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry has involved diverse large-scale projects across the globe, making him adept at building strong partnerships and refining technical and operational processes. As the operations director for Team Henderson’s business sector, he oversees the development of strategic, practical solutions that help deliver successful commercial, logistics, and mission critical projects nationwide.

 

Drew Miller, New York

Project Director at Henderson Engineers

Drew oversees and coordinates high-profile retail accounts and projects nationwide, guiding a team of project managers and technical experts in delivering design and engineering solutions that help create high quality environments and experiences that have a meaningful impact in people’s lives. Based out of Team Henderson’s Midtown Manhattan office, Drew’s role is also focused on strengthening local partnerships and helping align company strategies with client goals.

 

Greg Shelton, Lenexa, Kan.

Senior Marketing and Business Development Director at Henderson Engineers

Greg has spent a majority of his 25-year career leading dynamic marketing and business development teams in the building industry. Now overseeing those specialties at Henderson, he works closely with senior leaders to align marketing, business development, and client experience strategies with the firm’s strategic plan. This involves intimately understanding client needs, identifying industry trends, and creating ways to improve the client journey.

 

Jeff Tomkus, Lenexa, Kan.

BIM Technical Director at Henderson Engineers

A veteran of the building industry since 2008, Jeff combines his technical expertise and people-first mindset to drive innovation forward and mentor his peers at Henderson Engineers. As the BIM (building information modeling) technical director, he works closely with his team to develop smart quality systems, procedures, and initiatives that ensure compliance and alignment with company goals as well as client objectives.

 

Justin Harvey, Houston  

Grocery & Distribution Sector Project Director at Henderson Engineers

Justin started leading Henderson Engineers’ office in Houston early in his career, playing a key role in expanding the company’s local presence across several sectors. In addition to his position as regional leader, he now serves as project director for Henderson’s Grocery & Distribution sector, keeping busy managing projects from several programs and helping drive business development efforts forward.

 

Kevin Knueven, Lebanon, Ohio

Director of Mission Critical Commissioning at Henderson Building Solutions

As mission critical commissioning director, Kevin uses his problem-solving skills to lead the commissioning team and ensure the high performance and resilience of mission critical facilities such as data centers and other critical operations centers nationwide. A commissioning veteran since 2003, he has valuable experience in developing companywide standards for engineering drawings and software to improve efficiency and drive strategic improvements that deliver measurable results for clients.

 

Nan Knecht, Lenexa, Kan.

Health Sector Project Director at Henderson Engineers

As project director, Nan oversees and coordinates complex, high-profile healthcare projects nationwide, ensuring quality and stellar client experience throughout design and construction. It’s a position befitting her extensive background, which includes several leadership roles during her 25-year tenure at one of Kansas City’s largest healthcare systems as consumer experience director, and a practice lead position at a leading global AEC firm.

 

Ryan Peterson, Lenexa, Kan.  

Practice Director at Henderson Engineers

Over the span of his 15-year career, Ryan has specialized in a wide variety of disciplines including estimation, project engineering and management, operations management, and construction management. In his new role as practice director, he will apply his wide breadth of knowledge and experience in overseeing the delivery of quality grocery store remodel projects across the country.

 

 

Sam Berkow, New York 

Project Director at Henderson Engineers

Sam brings decades of experience in acoustical design to his new role. His focus is primarily venue projects including entertainment facilities, performance spaces, production facilities, arenas, and more. It’s the latest step in Sam’s storied career, in which he’s earned numerous accolades including the Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award for Innovation in Audio & Acoustics, Several TEC Awards, and induction into the TEC Hall OF Fame for Developing SIA-Smaart (an acoustics measurement system).

 

Tracy Worley, Lebanon, Tenn.

Fire Technical Director at Henderson Engineers

As Team Henderson’s fire technical director, Tracy ensures precision in processes, documentation, and tools while also improving design strategies and advancing sustainability efforts. A respected leader across the building industry, he serves as chapter president for the Nashville Society of Fire Protection Engineers and is a member of the Architects, Engineers, and Building Officials board for the National Fire Protection Association.

 

Tyler Kraus, Lenexa, Kan.

Practice Director at Henderson Engineers

As a practice director for Henderson’s grocery and distribution sector, Tyler oversees teams and programs that deliver innovative solutions and quality service to clients nationwide. His journey with Henderson started with a summer internship as a university student and he has gained experience in numerous design disciplines and project types during his subsequent 12-year tenure, establishing him as a trusted leader at the firm and valued partner with clients.

 

Veronica Sandoval, Dallas

With over a decade of experience in commercial real estate, Veronica brings a wealth of expertise and a people-first approach to her role as a business development director at Henderson Engineers.
